The latest issue of Paint & Panel magazine carries a welding feature. Due to an editorial oversight the popular and economical GYS welder from SAPE was excluded from the feature. We'll feature it in the next issue of the magazine but you can also read about it here.
More and more vehicle components are moving to advanced high-strength steel, including intrusion side-beams, rocker panels and B-Pillars. Dual phase, advanced high-strength steel is seen as a material that is allowing vehicle manufacturers to make quantum leaps forward in terms of strength while using thinner materials that have greater rigidity.
There’s a great deal of learning to be done by the welding community when it comes to advanced high-strength steel. For the first time in the history of welding, we’re running into steels that are stronger than the traditional strength weld levels, so what is the answer?
The GYS PTI s7 Evolution Fully Automatic Inverter liquid cooled Spot welder is the very latest in advanced spot welding technology from Europe and like all GYS products its packed with standard features and accessories that other manufacturers are still dreaming about, say the company.
The GYS PTI s7 Evolution Fully Automatic Inverter liquid cooled Spot welder has a Transformer C Gun with 14,500 amps of welding current, the most powerful in its class, massive clamping pressure, and being a transformer gun the machine can operate at maximum power from as little as a 16 to 25 amp 3 phase power outlet. In other words it uses much less power than traditional cable gun Spot welders. If your shop is marginal on power this could be the welder for you.
The transformer gun enables the machine to have a six meter lead from the welder cabinet to the C gun giving the operator much more freedom to move around the vehicle compared to cable gun machines, and coupled with 7 welding C arms to choose from difficult to reach areas are easy to navigate.
GYS PTI s7 features
All welding algorithms are adjustable from the screen on the machine or from the transformer gun itself
In fully automatic mode you can weld any thickness and any material with out changing a single thing on the machine, go from 2 panels to 5 panels or more, different thickness, zinc plate or galvanizing, without any adjustment
There is an SD card for spot weld reporting, quick change C arms
This welder uses 40% less power than a cable machine and is approved by many car manufacturers.
