Nissan has developed a working prototype of its BladeGlider vehicle, a sports car that will combine high performance with zero emissions. It will do 0-95km in less than five second and it has a drift mode!

The new model is powered by 100 per cent electricity, developed over two years of testing and this is V2 - an advanced prototype - the next version should have number plates on it

Using a five module lithium-ion 220kW battery, the vehicle includes bespoke cooling systems designed for both the battery and motors.

Intelligent mobility has been a core focus in the development of the model, combining torque vectoring, meaning that if the car starts to understeer, more torque is sent to the outside wheel to restore handling balance.

Other key features included wheel-mounted controls for the car's systems that feed into an advanced display tracking speed, battery charge, regeneration mode and torque map.

Nissan CEO and president Carlos Ghosn said that environmental elements and technology have bolstered the development of the BladeGlider.

“These prototypes epitomise Nissan’s drive to expand its Intelligent Mobility strategy, where driving pleasure combines with environmental responsibility.

"Nissan believes that enthusiasts should look forward to a zero emission future and BladeGlider is a perfect demonstration of that. It’s the electric vehicle for car-lovers.”

Two BladeGliders will be showcased in Rio de Janeiro this month with one displayed to the public and the other offering rides to media and VIPs.
