Queensland could be crowned the world's first supplier of solar-powered cars ahead of the 2017 World Solar Challenge.
Clenergy Team Arrow has revealed the design of its solar electric car that will compete for the Cruiser class for the 2017 World Solar Challenge – a 3000km race running from Darwin to Adelaide next October, reports the ABC.
The prototype will be designed as a two-seater sports car utilising solar energy and supplied power from a lithium ion battery pack.
Clenergy Team Arrow will run 300 to 400km at a highway speed of 110km per hour on a fully charged battery.
Cleanergy's engineers are now planning to release the race car as a registered sports vehicle that could potentially cost consumers $250,000 a pop.
