Terrafugia has revealed details about its Transition production vehicle which it hopes will be the first road-going flying car.
As part of its statement, the company also said that it hoped the first production vehicles would come to the market in 2019.
It has also announced a number of features that the vehicle will come with including a hybrid-electric motor, a boost system to give the vehicle a burst of power while flying and a number of updated safety systems.
To account for the vehicle's lack of rear-view vision, it also includes three camera when in drive mode to increase visibility of the vehicle's surroundings.
Terrafugia CEO Chris Jaran said the technology had come to a point where the company believed it would be safe for both flying and driving experiences.
“Developing this new technology has allowed us to test several different mechanisms and generate process improvements along the way.
“We are at the critical point where we can implement the best design features based on years of flight and drive testing.
“This will improve function, safety and aesthetics for the optimal flying and driving experience.”
