Holden has issued the following advice on diagnostics to ensure your vehicle repair process is correct.
When assessing a vehicle repair it is important to look beyond the physical damage caused by a collision. Even seemingly minor, low speed incidents may cause unseen damage to critical safety-related vehicle systems.
This can cause problems that may not be highlighted by warnings on the instrument panel. For this reason it is best practice to test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) before and after repairs are carried out.
But, checking for DTCs accurately can be difficult, if not impossible without the correct equipment and up to date software.
General Motors have taken an active role in removing the barriers to accessing this information via their AC Delco TDS portal and now collision and mechanical repairers can purchase genuine General Motors diagnostic equipment directly from Bosch Automotive Service Solutions and software from the AC Delco TDS portal.
Checking vehicles systems with the correct diagnostic equipment and software will ensure you are aware of unseen problems, save time by quoting correctly for required genuine parts to fix the electrical systems if a fault is found. You’ll also ensure the vehicle is returned to the customer with all safety system functioning - protecting them into the future.
Only by using General Motors approved diagnostic equipment and software can be assured that the vehicle systems are being read accurately.
