We’re determined not to miss out on a live event this year so we’ve delayed the awards and seminar program from December until early next year. Nominations for the awards will open on 11 October.
Given the state of play pandemic-wise we have taken the decision to postpone the event until February 2022, when we fervently hope that we will be over 80% vaccinated and public gatherings can take place safely once more.
A fantastic aspect of this program is how many different entities in the industry want to support it. We have had a couple of meetings with our fabulous sponsors and they have been so engaged in how we can make the event even more awesome than in previous years and what, other than the recognition by peers and the physical award, we can present to the winners. All the sponsors are pitching in extra goodies for the 10 amazing women who are selected as winners including training and development prizes and some fun prizes too. This year's winners will be chosen by all of last year’s winners.
The 2021 Women in Collision Awards and Seminar are sponsored by Glasurit/BASF, iBodyshop, Parts Check, General Motors, Axalta, 3M, GM Certified Collision Repair Network and Wallaby Crash Supplies.
The categories for the Women in Collision Awards are:
Owner/manager
Parts manager
Technician/estimator
Admin/customer service
Industry supplier representative
Winners will be profiled in the magazine and presented their awards trophy at the Women in Collision seminar early next year. The closed Women in Collision Facebook group now has over 280 members who regularly share knowledge and opinions – all women in the industry are welcome to join.
The seminar (not just for women, men are very welcome) is all about networking and connecting with others in the industry. We’ll start with lunch and then hear from a line up of inspirational speakers which includes Andrea McCarthy from McCarthy Panel Works in Mackay and the VACC’s Kathy Zdravevski, Industry Policy Advisor who has a background in the insurance industry. After enjoying and learning from our presenters we’ll get on with presenting the awards, which will be followed by drinks and nibbles.
We'll be keeping you updated with the awards and seminar regularly via the the website - check for updates at Women in Collision news.
