The new 3M Speedglas heavy-duty welding helmet G5-01with Adflo PAPR gives professional welders the ultimate in comfort, protection and adaptability, the company says. The Speedglas G5-01 marks the fifth generation of Speedglas welding helmets, introducing the latest in welding lens technology combined with flip-front functionality for grinding.
The new Speedglas G5-01VC welding lens features the popular Speedglas True-View optics, along with new Variable Colour Technology, which allows users to choose between warm, natural or cool colour tones for their dark state. Welders can now determine which colour tone provides the best contrast for their welds, and comfort for their eyes.
Designed for high-amperage, heavy-duty welding, the Speedglas G5-01 comes with the heavy-duty Adflo powered air respirator. This provides welders up to 12 hours of continuous respiratory protection against welding fume, with a Required Minimum Protection Factor (RMPF) of 50*.
For greater control over their comfort, the Speedglas G5-01 helmet features an innovative respiratory duct system with multiple airflow adjustments. Users can direct the airflow toward their face or visor or adjust the amount of air coming in from the top or side outlets of the helmet. All airflow adjustments can be made while wearing the helmet, meaning welders can maintain their eye, face and respiratory protection.
Keeping in line with the theme of adaptable comfort, the Speedglas G5-01 welding helmet is available with a range of configurable head and neck coverage options. For extended non-welding tasks, users can simply unscrew and remove the welding shield component, leaving only the clear visor to reduce the helmet weight by over 35%.
With a superior optical rating (1/1/1), TrueView and Variable Colour Technology, the extra-large G5-01VC auto-darkening lens (73 x 109 mm) features shades 3/5/8-13 as well as a new shade 14 for high-amperage heavy-duty welding. A new two-step recovery process uses an intermediate shade 7 when switching from a dark to light state, helping to minimise eye strain.
A new, optional helmet-mounted task lightprovides hours of powerful lightingand runs off the 3M Adflo Li-ion Battery, enabling welders to enter and work in poorly lit spaces. The G5-01VC lens is also Bluetooth enabled, meaning you can use your phone to program up to ten memory modes, as well as access user manuals and parts lists.
