I-CAR's Chief Operating Officer Jason Trewin takes the wheel for this week's Turbo Talk.
How did you get started in the industry?
I started as an apprentice panel beater in 1988 with Armstrong and Sons in Parkdale, Victoria. Continued to work in different branches, then different bodyshop businesses prior to opening my own business at 25 years old.
What do you do now?
I am currently Chief Operating Officer for I-CAR Australia. I have been involved with I-CAR Australia since late 2006 firstly as a contract technical trainer then moving into a full-time role 11 years ago.
What do you most like about the industry?
This is a fantastic industry with very passionate people. I really enjoy the passion that drives this industry in every direction.
What do you most dislike about the industry?
It’s not necessarily what I dislike about our industry, it’s that some of the public and our customers don’t have a real understanding our how complex our tasks are. Our industry profile is not as high as it needs to be in the public forum. Our industry should be recognised and celebrated for its exceptional high level of skill.
Who do you most admire in the industry?
I admire those businesses that invest in their team, facilities, and culture to drive our industry forward in a positive light.
Cars! tell us - first car, current car, dream car?
First car was a joint venture with a partner at the time. A VW beetle. Only caught fire the once as the springs in the back seat used to touch the battery terminal underneath and spark every so often. Made for a very hot seat if you were sitting in the back!
I’m more of a bike person now and in particular a Ducati person. So would love to have a 1974 900ss Green Frame if I could.
