How did you get started in the industry?
Was made redundant about 9 1/2 years ago. A friend of mine's daughter put a message up on Facebook looking for someone to help in the office of a smash repairer. I answered it, came down the next day and have been here ever since! It was challenging in the early days I didn't know what car was what, LOL.
What do you do now?
I do reception, customer bookings, parts ordering, admin, bookkeeping, assist with quotes and look after thing's when my boss is away.
What do you like most about the industry?
I like the customer contact... it can be a social event some days. I like the challenges each day brings... (well some of them ...
parts can do your head in some days). Never a dull moment!
What do you dislike most about the industry?
I dislike how we are treated by some insurers. They need to pay us fairly for the good job we do.
Who do you admire most in the industry?
The person I most admire in the industry would have to be my boss, Bill. I wanted to learn more and he has allowed me to do that. He has taught me so much about repairing cars and quoting. He allows me to challenge myself and to just give new things a go.
Cars! First, current and dream?
My first car was a Mitsubishi Galant Coupe with velour trim. I thought it was just fantastic.
My current car... the Nana mobile ( I have nearly 10 grandchildren) is a Hyundai Accent Sport. Great car and awesome on fuel.
My dream car would have to be a Holden. HSV or club sport.
