How did you get started in the industry?
Family. I have always loved being involved in my parents’ business and my parents always included my brother and I. From asking us as children for ideas, to when I was old enough to start helping answer the phone and collation statement and invoice during school holidays. I loved working on cars with dad. I started in my parents business 10 years ago, after finally wearing my parents down, to agree to let me come on board.
What do you do now?
Managing Director of Kate Presnell Bodyworks.I bought the business off my parents 2 years ago.
What do you most like about the industry?
I love the passion of the industry. Networking with like-minded business owners, egging each other on, to push the norm and achieve amazing things.
What do you most dislike about the industry?
Those that complain about how it is and do nothing to change, just make excuses. Not just this industry, it is everywhere. I figure, don’t complain unless you are willing to do something about it yourself. There is no knight in shining armour coming to save you. Save yourself.
Who do you most admire in the industry?
That is a really tough question. There are so many amazing people in our industry across the world. People like David Luhr, Mike Anderson, Carly Ruggeri, Tony Farrugia – how can you possibly choose! There would be so many others out there, the list would be endless. The best way I can answer this is: I admire those that strive to improve our industry, avoid negativity and aspire to lead.
