Police used a Lamborghini Huracán to cut four hours off a regular trip to a hospital waiting for the a kidney.
The Italian State Police shared a video of the life-saving trip to their Twitter page and explained they were able to make it in time for the patient’s surgery.
According to Reuters the trip from the northern town of Padua to Rome usually takes about six hours on the highway, however the police were able to get there in just two with the Lamborghini. The trip is more than 490km.
According to Wanted In Rome, police reached speeds of up to 230 km an hour in the Lamborghini during the mission and had the car’s sirens going and the lights flashing.
“Thanks to our @Lamborghini Huracan we delivered a donor kidney for transplant to a person in time,” the police tweeted.
“‘To save a life you don't need superpowers - solidarity, technology and efficiency also help.”
Lamborghini Huracán is used by the police to to transport blood and organs in emergencies and chase down drivers who are breaking the speed limit.
