The new Accuspray System from 3M boosts productivity and reduces waste, according to the company, with technicians able to increase productivity by decreasing primer sanding time and reducing clean up time.

According to 3m, this innovative technology delivers environmental benefits, decreases primer waste and can significantly reduce solvent consumption in the clean-up process.

For automotive paint professionals, one of the greatest challenges is not the painting itself, it is the preparation, priming and clean up that take a great deal of time away from productive work.

As a consequence for shop owners, that preparation, priming and clean-up process reduces overall shop productivity, creates hazardous waste for disposal and keeps shop personnel busy on non-collectible tasks like masking, sanding and cleaning.

Now, the 3M automotive aftermarket division’s Accuspray System introduces a new solution that benefits both paint professionals and shop owners.

The system combines a high-performance HVLP spray gun with innovative replaceable atomising head and accessories to deliver premium performance at a fraction of the cost and effort.

The system allows painters to have a brand new spray gun on demand. The atomising head delivers a large, usable pattern, provides a flat smooth finish and reduces overspray.

It is designed to work with the PPS System from 3M, and replacing the atomising head is as easy as click and spray.

"3M continues to look for solutions for making the painting process easier and more efficient, while reducing non-productive tasks and environmental waste," Australian automotive aftermarket marketing manager for 3M, Steven Perez, said.

"We extended the proprietary PPS technology to address several major issues for paint professionals and shop owners – the time it takes to clean a primer gun, the waste and overspray associated with a clogged or low-quality gun and lost man hours spent on masking, sanding and cleaning before and after jobs."

The Accuspray System from 3M can help:

* Reduce overspray – helps reduce the double work of masking, sheeting and cleaning overspray from other cars and floor when priming in the shop

* Decrease sanding time – due to flatter, smoother finish which minimises the hated "orange peel" finish

* Improve transfer efficiency and lower primer consumption – due to a reduction in overspray

* Reduces solvent consumption – the Accuspray System can be cleaned with as little as 30 to 60ml of solvent for cleaning, versus a half to a full litre of solvent for traditional primer guns

* Reduces clean-up time – the Accuspray System takes just 30 seconds to clean, where a traditional primer gun can take five minutes or more.
